Airing for the first time on cable television, the Women’s Final of Wimbledon had a double-digit increase in overnight ratings compared to last year.
Coverage of Wimbledon featuring the Serena Williams/Agnieszka Radwanska Women’s Final drew a 2.0 overnight rating on ESPN Saturday, up 11% from both Kvitov?/Sharapova on NBC last year (1.8) and S. Williams/Zvonareva on NBC in 2010 (1.8).
The 2.0 is the highest for the Women’s Final of Wimbledon since 2009, the last time Serena played her sister Venus Williams in the final (2.7).
With that said, the 2.0 is also the third-lowest for the Women’s Final of Wimbledon since at least 1994 (overnights prior to 1995 were not available).
Keep in mind the overnights given are for the full five-hour telecast window (9 AM-2 PM). Coverage of the match itself, which ended after 11:30 AM ET, drew a 2.5 overnight — up 14% from last year (2.2).
