Wimbledon was not the only hit for NBC over the weekend.
The Olympic swimming and track & field trials drew solid ratings during the holiday weekend, led by a 5.3/9 for prime time coverage of the swimming trials on Sunday, the highest overnight of the weekend and an overnight higher than any for the swimming trials in 2004.
Coverage of the track & field trials drew a 4.3/8 immediately before swimming coverage. Overall, NBC averaged a 4.8 overnight for swimming and track & field coverage from 7-9 PM last night. Partly on the strength of the Olympic trials, NBC won the night in the adults 18-49 demo and finished second in total viewers.
Swimming aired in prime time on both Friday and Saturday, drawing overnights of 2.6/6 and 3.0/6, respectively. NBC finished second in total viewers and among adults 18-49 on both nights, though Olympics coverage averaged anemic 18-49 ratings of 0.9 Friday and 1.0 Saturday.
