The fifth night of the 2012 London Olympics attracted another massive overnight rating on NBC.
Tape delayed primetime coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics drew a 24.0 overnight rating on NBC Tuesday night, up 4% from Beijing in 2008 (23.0), and up 12% from Athens in 2004 (21.5).
The most recent Olympics — the 2010 Winter Olympics from Vancouver — earned a 14.4 for comparable coverage.
Tuesday’s 24.0 overnight is the highest of the Olympics so far, topping Friday’s Opening Ceremony (23.0). The overnight also marks a 19% increase over Monday’s coverage (20.7).
Salt Lake City (31.3) led all markets for Tuesday’s primetime window, followed by Indianapolis (29.2), Kansas City (28.9), Denver (28.8) and Minneapolis (28.4).
