For the second straight week, college football on FOX topped the charts in the overnights, only for ABC’s “Saturday Night Football” to come out ahead in the final ratings.
The Nebraska/Ohio State “Saturday Night Football” game drew a 3.1 final rating and 5.161 million viewers on ABC last weekend, down 14% in ratings and 9% in viewership from the same matchup last year (3.6, 5.639M), but even in ratings and up 2% in viewership from regional action featuring FSU/Miami in 2010 (3.1, 5.053).
The game was the highest rated and most-viewed of Saturday night, topping West Virginia/Texas on FOX (2.9, 4.555M). In the overnights, the FOX game (3.2) topped ABC (3.1).
Earlier in the day, regional college football action featuring Oklahoma/Texas Tech earned a 2.0 final rating — down 43% from coverage featuring Iowa/Penn State last year (3.5), and down 43% from coverage featuring Michigan State/Michigan in 2010 (3.5).
The early game was crushed head-to-head by Florida/LSU on CBS (4.6).
