The kickoff to the third season of Saturday Night Football on ABC saw improved numbers from last year.
Regional coverage featuring Alabama/Clemson drew 5.5 million viewers in prime time (8-11 PM) Saturday night, up 22% from the 4.5 million viewers Tennessee/Cal drew in prime time last year. Among adults 18-49, ABC averaged a 1.9/7 in prime time, up 19% from last year.
Prime time viewership peaked from 8:30-9 PM, with 6 million viewers. The highest adults 18-49 rating of the night came during the 9:30-10 PM half hour, when the network averaged a 2.1/7.
ABC won the night in both total viewers and adults 18-49, beating second place FOX by 16% and 12%, respectively.
