With the eyes of the college football world focused elsewhere, Saturday’s Stanford/UCLA game on FOX was a terrible draw.
Saturday’s Stanford/UCLA college football game drew a 1.7 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, down 19% from Oklahoma/West Virginia the previous week (2.1), and down 11% from Kansas State/TCU two weeks earlier (1.9).
The 1.7 overnight is tied as the second-lowest of the season for primetime college football on FOX, ahead of only the network’s debut telecast — Hawaii/Southern Cal in week one (1.4).
Competition from the Notre Dame/Southern Cal game on ABC (10.3) likely contributed at least somewhat to the low numbers.
Despite the rough outing, Stanford/UCLA was actually the top college football game on FOX over the holiday weekend.
Earlier Saturday, Baylor/Texas Tech drew a 1.0 overnight — down 63% from Southern Cal/UCLA the previous week (2.7), but even with Oregon State/Stanford two weeks ago (1.0).
On Friday, the Washington/Washington State game drew a 1.4 overnight.
Of the 11 college football games on broadcast over the weekend, the only game to earn a lower overnight than the three telecasts on FOX was the Grambling/Southern Bayou Classic on NBC (0.7).
In other college football action on Fox Sports, FX drew a 0.2 overnight for Utah/Colorado Friday afternoon, and a 0.1 for Tulsa/SMU on Saturday.
