With the World Series in a rain delay, ABC drew strong numbers for Saturday Night Football.
Penn State’s victory over Ohio State drew a 7.2 overnight rating on ABC Saturday night, up a whopping 47% from a 4.9 for the same matchup last year. The 7.2 overnight is the second highest for a college football game this season, behind an 8.4 for Ohio State/USC in September.
ABC also saw a big increase in ratings for early game coverage. Regional action featuring Texas/Oklahoma State drew a 5.2 overnight rating, up 49% from a 3.5 for comparable coverage in ’07.
Overall, ABC averaged a 6.2 overnight rating for a college football doubleheader on Saturday, up 63% from a 3.8 for a tripleheader last year.
