The Miami Heat winning streak could be over by the end of Wednesday night, but that did not stop ESPN from adding more of the team’s games. In other news, CBS and the old Big East Conference have reached a TV rights extension, and Cowboys Stadium is expected to host the 2015 college football playoff.
ESPN Adds More Heat Games
- ESPN has picked up Heat/Bobcats on April 5 and Sixers/Heat on April 6, which would be the 32nd and record-tying 33rd straight victories for the Heat if the team’s current winning streak continues. Heat/Bobcats replaces a previously scheduled Thunder/Pacers game. The games, which will be subject to local blackouts, will air on ESPN even if the Heat lose beforehand. (ESPN Media Zone)
CBS, Old Big East, Reach Deal
- CBS and the soon-to-be-renamed Big East Conference have announced a seven-year media rights extension through the 2019-20 academic year, the parties announced Monday. Under the new deal, CBS will air up to 12 men’s basketball games per year and will retain first pick on game selection. The Big East, which will be renamed later this year, already reached an agreement with ESPN for cable rights. (CBS Sports)
Cowboys Stadium Expected to Host ’15 NCAAF Title Game
- The 2015 college football national championship game is considered a “virtual lock” to take place at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington (TX), ESPN.com reported Tuesday. The only other bidder for the 2015 game, the first under the new playoff format, is Tampa Bay. (ESPN.com)
