The Red Wings/Blackhawks series has not been the only impressive draw during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Saturday’s Game 5 of the Rangers/Bruins Stanley Cup playoff series drew a 1.0 U.S. rating and 1.9 million viewers on NBC Sports Network, the second-most viewed second round game ever on the network.
The only second round game to earn a larger audience on NBCSN was Monday’s Blackhawks/Red Wings Game 6 (2.7M). The Bruins/Rangers and Blackhawks/Red Wings series have accounted for four of the six most-viewed second round games ever on NBCSN.
Rangers/Bruins Game 5 was an especially impressive draw considering the 5:30 PM ET start time.
Locally, the game drew a 17.93 rating in Boston — the market’s best ever for a second round game on NBCSN. The game drew a 3.39 in New York, matching Game 1 as the top rated game of the series on cable.
In other recent Stanley Cup playoff action, Sunday’s Sharks/Kings Game 6 drew a mere 0.5 U.S. rating and 846,000 viewers, and Friday’s Senators/Penguins Game 5 drew 1.3 million.
