Ratings for the L.A. Dodgers neared a season-high on FS Prime Ticket last week. In other news, NBC had another increase for Formula 1 coverage, and the WNBA faded on ABC with Brittney Griner sidelined.
Puig’s Arrival Coincides With Improved Ratings For Dodgers
- Friday’s Braves/Dodgers Major League Baseball game earned a 3.4 rating on Fox Sports Prime Ticket in the Los Angeles market, the network’s second-highest Dodgers rating of the season. Since the Dodgers called up OF Yaseil Puig on June 3, the team has averaged a 2.5 on FS Prime Ticket — improving the network’s season average by a modest 3%. (Fox Sports)
Overnights Increase For F1 on NBC
- Sunday’s Formula 1 Grand Prix of Canada drew a 0.9 overnight rating on NBC, up a tick from last year’s race on FOX, and up 29% from the 2011 race on FOX (0.7). NBC’s first F1 race of the season — the May 26 Grand Prix of Monaco — drew a healthier 1.3 overnight in a weaker 8 AM ET timeslot. (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
With Griner Injured, WNBA Slides on ABC
- With Brittney Griner absent due to injury, Saturday’s Mercury/Fever WNBA regular season game drew a 0.6 overnight rating on ABC — down 25% from the network’s lone regular season game last year, a May 20 match-up between the Mercury and Lynx (0.8). The 0.6 is tied as the second-best overnight for any WNBA game on ABC (regular season, postseason, or All-Star) since 2008. (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
