The L.A. Dodgers are unsurprisingly attracting much better numbers than last year. In other news, the Tampa Bay Rays are pulling closer to last year’s numbers, and the Red Sox/Dodgers match-up could only barely lift MLB on FOX.
Dodgers Ratings Up Big
- Los Angeles Dodgers Major League Baseball games have averaged a 2.7 rating on Fox Sports Prime Ticket this season, up 42% from last year. August is on pace to be the Dodgers’ highest rated month this season, with a 3.5 average. On Friday, Red Sox/Dodgers earned a 4.4 rating — the second-best of the season on FS Prime Ticket. (Nielsen)
Rays Down, But Narrowing Gap
- Sun Sports has averaged a 4.9 rating for Tampa Bay Rays games this season, down 1% from last year. Rays ratings had been down 10% just one month earlier. The three-game Yankees/Rays series averaged a 6.9 on Sun Sports over the weekend, including a 7.3 for Sunday’s finale — the eighth-best Rays rating of the season. (Nielsen)
Not Much Interest in Red Sox/Dodgers
- Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Red Sox/Dodgers earned a 1.9 overnight rating on FOX Saturday, up a tick from coverage featuring Braves/Giants last year (1.8). As mentioned in another post, the telecast was outdrawn head-to-head by the Little League World Series on ABC (2.2). (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
