Even with a match-up of sub-.500 teams, the NFL was able to top high-profile college football competition last Thursday night.
The Week 10 Washington/Vikings “Thursday Night Football” game drew a 4.0 U.S. rating and 6.5 million viewers on NFL Network last week, up 21% in ratings and 25% in viewership from Colts/Jaguars last year (3.3, 5.2M), and up 21% and 23%, respectively, from Raiders/Chargers in 2011 (3.3, 5.3M).
The game ranks as the highest rated and most-viewed Thursday night game since Week 6, when Giants/Bears had a 5.0 and 7.8 million.
“Thursday Night Football” finished comfortably ahead of competing college football coverage, topping ESPN’s Oregon/Stanford game by 11% in both ratings (4.0 to 3.6) and viewership (6.5M to 5.7M), and trouncing the Oklahoma/Baylor game on Fox Sports 1 (2.1M).
