ESPN has announced that Will Ferrell‘s scheduled appearance on “SportsCenter” has been canceled.
Ferrell was to appear on Thursday’s 6 PM ET edition of “SportsCenter” as “Anchorman” character Ron Burgundy. However, the Florida State Attorney’s Office is scheduled to announce the results of a sexual assault investigation into Florida State QB Jameis Winston Thursday afternoon.
With the potential of a very serious story involving the Heisman frontrunner, ESPN obviously realized that having a comedian host “SportsCenter” that night would be inappropriate.
It was not clear whether Ferrell’s appearance would be rescheduled.
Of note, Ferrell is also scheduled to appear as Burgundy on “The Dan Patrick Show” Thursday morning. It is unknown whether that appearance will be affected by the Winston story.
