- Doug Towey: The longtime CBS Sports executive passed away on Wednesday at age 61. Towey served as the Creative Director for CBS Sports, and was “responsible for its promotional campaigns … graphics, animation, music and scenic design.” Notably, Towey was responsible for the song “One Shining Moment” being used as the anthem for CBS coverage of the NCAA Tournament.
- Michael Phelps: The Olympic gold medalist will address his recent marijuana controversy in a two-part interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer. Part one of the interview will air on The Today Show on Friday morning, with the other part airing on Dateline NBC Sunday night. In the interview, Phelps tells Lauer that his apparent pot-smoking was “a bad mistake.”
- Dennis Eckersley: The TBS MLB analyst will join play-by-play man Chip Caray in the booth for select Sunday afternoon telecasts this season. In addition to Eckersley, Ron Darling and Buck Martinez will continue to serve as the primary analysts for MLB telecasts on TBS.
