A historic Big East battle drew big ratings on ESPN Thursday night.
The six overtime epic between Syracuse and Connecticut drew a 1.8 U.S. rating (2.1 cable) and 2.6 million viewers on ESPN Thursday, making the game the most viewed Big East telecast on the ESPN family of networks since 1996, and the second-most viewed since 1990.
The game peaked with a 2.9 cable rating from 1-1:15 AM early Friday morning.
Led by Syracuse/Connecticut, ESPN is averaging a 0.9 U.S. rating (1.1 cable) and 1.3 million viewers for its coverage of Championship Week, up 29% in ratings and 45% in viewership from a 0.7 (0.8 cable) and 898,000 viewers through the same point in ’08.
