The last NFL singleheader of the season hit a season-high on FOX.
The Week 16 NFL singleheader window, featuring either Saints/Panthers or Giants/Lions, drew a 13.0 final rating and 21.9 million viewers on FOX December 22 — up 24% in ratings and 25% in viewership from coverage on CBS last year (10.5, 17.5M), and up 57% and 50%, respectively, from coverage on CBS in 2011 (8.3, 14.6M).
Keep in mind the 2011 afternoon games aired on a Saturday.
The 13.0 rating is the highest of the season for the singleheader window, topping the previous mark of 12.8 set in Week 2. Seven of the eight highest rated singleheader telecasts aired on FOX, while seven of the eight lowest rated aired on CBS.
The Week 16 singleheader topped that week’s edition of “Sunday Night Football” on NBC (11.0, 18.3M). Overall, the singleheader beat “SNF” five times during the 2013 season.
