In its second Olympics, NBCSN has attracted some of the largest audiences in network history.
NBCSN averaged 2.9 million viewers for live coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Sunday, up 141% from the comparable day of the 2012 London Summer Olympics (1.2M). This year’s window ran from 6:00 AM to 2:23 PM ET, seven fewer hours than in 2012 — when coverage ran from 4:00 AM to 7:06 PM.
The day was highlighted by live ski-jumping from 1-2:23 PM ET, which earned an all-time NBCSN record 5.5 million viewers.
Saturday’s coverage earned 2.6 million viewers on NBCSN, up 138% from the comparable day in 2012 (1.0M). This year’s coverage (6 AM-2:30 PM) lasted eight fewer hours than in 2012 (4 AM-8 PM).
Figure skating coverage from 1-2 PM ET was Saturday’s top draw, with 4.9 million viewers — the second-largest audience in NBCSN history.
The top three telecasts ever on NBCSN have all been Olympic events — Sunday’s ski-jumping coverage, Saturday’s first skating action, and the USA/Japan women’s soccer gold medal match in 2012 (4.4M).
