After hitting the highest level in a week Monday night, overnight ratings for the Winter Olympics were less impressive on Tuesday.
Primetime coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympics earned a 12.0 overnight rating on NBC Tuesday night, the fourth-lowest overnight of the games (13 telecasts). Overnights for the comparable night of the Vancouver and Turin Olympics were not available.
The only primetime telecasts to earn lower overnights during the 2014 Olympics were the opening Thursday (11.8), last Friday (11.7) and last Saturday (10.3).
Locally, Salt Lake City was the top market, with a 20.0 rating. Minneapolis ranked second (17.8), followed by Denver (16.7), Kansas City (15.9) and Oklahoma City (15.8).
NBCSN had one of its weakest performances of this Olympics, earning a 0.6 overnight for live coverage — up a relatively modest 37% from London in 2012.
