If the Cleveland Cavaliers’ ratings momentum keeps up, we may all truly become witnesses.
The Cavaliers, owners of the best record in the NBA, have been attracting massive audiences in Cleveland. Through the first half of the NBA season, Cavaliers games averaged an 8.1 rating, up a staggering 119% from last year, and the highest average rating in the NBA.
The team’s March 15 game against the Knicks drew a 12.0 rating on FS Ohio, the highest ever for a Cavaliers game on the network. That was followed up by a 10.5 for Cavaliers/Magic on March 17, an 11.3 for Nets/Cavaliers on March 25, and an 11.0 for Pistons/Cavaliers last Tuesday.
Impressively, the 10.7 rating for Cavaliers/Knicks on February 4, which was a record at the time, is now not even one of the top three ratings of the season.
The increased interest in the Cavs is not limited to Cleveland. Entering Sunday, all three Cavaliers telecasts on ABC have seen double-digit increases in ratings. And LeBron James‘ appearance on CBS’ 60 Minutes last Sunday boosted “the show’s ratings 27 percent with men and 34 percent with adults 18-34.”
