ESPN says it “regrets” on-air comments made by college basketball analyst Bob Knight this morning.
ESPN college basketball analyst Bob Knight said on Mike and Mike in the Morning this morning that the NBA has “raped” college basketball due to the league’s age limit. “[T]he NBA does a tremendous, gigantic disservice to college basketball. It’s as though they’ve raped college basketball in my opinion” (ESPN, 3/25).
In a statement, ESPN said it has spoken with Knight and that it “regrets the use of the word.” Knight previously faced criticism for making light of rape in a 1988 interview.
Knight has been with ESPN since 2008.
