The Celtics’ Game 1 loss to the Bulls drew a 9.5 rating locally, with the game drawing a 4.8 on CSN New England and a 4.7 on ESPN. To put that in perspective, the Bruins’ first game of the playoffs drew a 9.4 on NESN.
- Ratings dropped for the second IRL race of the season on Versus. According to data from the Indiana Business Journal, the IRL Grand Prix at Long Beach drew a 0.34 U.S. rating (0.5 cable) on Versus Sunday afternoon, down 21% from a 0.43 (0.5 cable) for the same race on ESPN2 last year. Last year’s race served as the final Champ Car race in history.
- Perhaps schadenfreude helped FOX in the ratings. Regional MLB coverage, featuring the Yankees’ 22-4 blowout loss at home, drew a 2.7/7 overnight rating on FOX Saturday afternoon. The 2.7 matched the rating for a Pistons/Cavaliers NBA Playoff game on ABC that aired at virtually the same time.
