Hartford PGA Event Lowest Rated Since At Least 1998
- Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Travelers Championship drew a 0.9 final rating and 1.3 million viewers on CBS last Sunday, marking the lowest rated final round of the event since at least 1998. The previous low was a 1.0 for coverage on ABC in 2006. Compared to last year, the 0.9 rating declined 53% from a 1.9. Saturday’s coverage earned a mere 0.7 and 999,000 viewers, and both telecasts were outdrawn head-to-head by the U.S. Women’s Open on NBC. (Wknd. numbers from Sports Business Daily)
College World Series Hits Three-Year High on ESPN
- The 2014 College World Series averaged a 0.7 U.S. rating and 1.1 million viewers across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, up 17% in ratings and 18% in viewership from last year (0.6, 949K) and the most-viewed CWS since 2011. Including the regionals and super regionals, the tournament averaged a 0.4 and 537,000 across the three networks, up 3% and 6%, respectively, from last year’s 0.3 and 507,000. - Thursday’s NBA Draft earned a 2.3 U.S. rating and 3.5 million viewers on ESPN, up 15% in ratings and viewership from last year (2.0, 3.0M), and the most-viewed edition of the event since 1995 (3.6M). (ESPN Media Zone)
