For the third straight year, the season’s first NFL singleheader on FOX had a decline in overnights.
The Week 2 NFL singleheader window, featuring Seahawks/Chargers in 25% of markets, drew a 12.3 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 4% from coverage featuring Washington/Packers last year (12.8) and down 8% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Seahawks in 2012 (13.3). Overnights for the Week 2 window have now declined for three straight years since hitting a 13.6 in 2011.
Overall, Sunday’s 12.3 overnight is tied as the lowest for the Week 2 singleheader since 2009 (10.4).
Despite the declines, Sunday’s telecast finished well ahead of the Week 1 singleheader on CBS a week earlier (11.2). The FOX singleheader traditionally outperforms comparable coverage on CBS.
