Like Sunday Night Football the previous night, Monday Night Football had a solid increase and relatively low numbers in Week 5 of the season.
The Week 5 Seahawks/Washington Monday Night Football game drew an 8.2 final rating and 13.1 million viewers on ESPN, up 9% in ratings and 15% in viewership from Jets/Falcons last year (7.5, 11.4M) but down 9% and 7%, respectively, from Jets/Texans in 2012 (9.0, 14.1M).
The increases were the largest of the season on ESPN (six telecasts). Prior to Week 5, MNF did not manage an increase of more than 5% in either ratings or viewership.
Even with the increase, the Seahawks’ win drew the second-lowest rating and viewership of the season on ESPN. Only Cardinals/Chargers in Week 1, which started after 10 PM ET, drew lower numbers (7.1, 11.5M).
Among adults 18-49, the game had a 4.8 rating — up 9% from last year (4.4) but down 16% from 2012 (5.7).
