After three straight blowouts, a tight finish between the Colts and Texans boosted overnights for Thursday Night Football.
The Week 6 Colts/Texans Thursday Night Football game drew an 11.2 overnight rating on CBS and NFL Network, up 56% from Giants/Bears on NFL Network and local affiliates last year (7.2) and tied as the second-highest rated TNF game ever in the metered markets (dates back to 2006).
The Colts led Thursday’s game 24-0 after the first quarter before the Texans came back to make it interesting. The final margin of victory was a mere five points, ending a streak of blowouts.
Through Week 6, Thursday Night Football has averaged an 11.0 overnight on CBS and NFL Network — up 57% from last year’s games on NFL Network and local affiliates (7.0). CBS is in tens of millions more homes than NFL Network.
