For the second straight year, the U.S. Open ended on a Monday — but viewers were not as enthralled with this year’s finish.
The final round of the U.S. Open drew a 3.8 overnight rating on NBC Monday afternoon, down 50% from a 7.6 for Monday coverage last year, which featured the Tiger Woods/Rocco Mediate playoff.
The 3.8 overnight also marks a 5% slide from a 4.0 for Monday coverage in ’01, which featured a playoff between Retlief Goosen and Mark Brooks.
