- ESPN will devote extensive coverage to the 2010 World Cup, including 65 hours of studio programming live from South Africa. Coverage of the month-long event will include SportsCenter segments and daily, 30-minute editions of World Cup Live. Game coverage will feature a half-hour pregame show.
- Tiger Woods‘ official website is being managed by a somewhat unlikely source. MLB Advanced Media recently agreed to a multi-year deal to “host, manage and operate” TigerWoods.com. MLBAM will “assume responsibility for backend functionality, digital encoding and online customer service and support” of the newly-redesigned site, and will also provide original content. MLBAM has been the wireless partner of TigerWoods.com since ’06.
- In the tradition of 50 States in 50 Days, Who’s Now and Titletown, ESPN has announced a new four-week SportsCenter feature called Fan Feast. Fan Feast will “[celebrate] the top sporting events to experience and to watch,” as ESPN anchors Kenny Mayne and Mike Greenberg discuss their favorite events to attend and participate in, respectively. Fans will get to submit their favorites, with Mayne and Greenberg selecting two winners — one who gets to attend his favorite event, and one who will participate in their favorite event.
Netflix officially announces expanded NFL deal
The NFL has officially reached a new deal with Netflix that will see the streamer bookend the season.
