Facing strong draws on CBS and ABC, FOX struggled with its college football coverage on Saturday.
The Texas/Oklahoma State game drew a 1.0 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, down 52% from both Texas Tech/Baylor last year and Oklahoma/West Virginia in 2012 (2.1 both years), and the third-lowest overnight ever for primetime college football on the network.
The only primetime games to earn a lower overnight also took place this season — Fresno State/USC in week one and Baylor/Iowa State in week five, which both drew a 0.9.
Head-to-head, the Longhorns’ blowout win was trounced by FSU/Miami on ABC (6.1) and Georgia/Auburn on ESPN (2.6).
Earlier in the day, Washington/Arizona drew a 0.9 overnight — down 47% from Oklahoma State/Texas last year (1.7) and down 67% from USC/UCLA in 2012 (2.7). The concurrent TCU/Kansas game on Fox Sports 1 drew a 0.5. Both games were crushed head-to-head by Mississippi State/Alabama on CBS (6.6), as well as Nebraska/Wisconsin on ABC (2.3) and Northwestern/Notre Dame on NBC (2.0).
