Though down slightly from last year, Sunday’s NFL national window was a strong draw as usual on FOX.
The Week 14 NFL national window, featuring Seahawks/Eagles in 91% of markets, drew a 17.4 overnight rating on FOX — down 4% from coverage featuring Seahawks/49ers last year (18.1) and up 2% from coverage featuring Saints/Giants in 2012 (17.0).
The 17.4 overnight is tied as the fifth-highest of the season for any NFL telecast, though that is close to the middle of the pack for the national window.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Colts/Browns in 45% of markets drew a 9.6 overnight — down 19% from coverage featuring Lions/Eagles last year (11.8) and down 16% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Bengals in 2012 (11.4).
The 19% decline ties the largest year-over-year drop in overnights on FOX this season.
Colts/Browns, it should be noted, moved from CBS to FOX as part of the NFL’s new ‘cross-flex’ system — whereby games can be switched from CBS to FOX or vice versa regardless of conference affiliation.
