In basketball vernacular, 0.4 usually refers to Derek Fisher‘s shot in 2004 or Mark Madsen‘s PPG average last season. For the WNBA, the number represents the lowest rating ever for the WNBA All-Star Game on broadcast.
The 2009 WNBA All-Star Game drew a paltry 0.4 rating and 519,000 viewers on ABC last Saturday, down a whopping 43% in ratings and 45% in viewers from a 0.7 and 950,000 viewers in ’07. This marks, by a wide margin, the lowest rated, least-viewed WNBA All-Star Game ever on broadcast.
Saturday’s game attracted 454,000 households, down 41% from ’07, and the third-fewest households ever for the WNBA All-Star Game — on broadcast or cable.
Amazingly, the All-Star Game drew lower numbers than ABC’s season opening Shock/Sparks telecast in June, which drew a relatively healthy 0.6/2 and 804,000 viewers.
