- FOX drew a 1.9/5 final rating for regional MLB coverage on Saturday, down 32% from a 2.8/7 for coverage on the comparable date last year, which featured a Yankees/Red Sox game. This marks the 10th time in the last 13 weeks that FOX has failed to draw at least a 2.0 rating for MLB coverage.
- The 2009 MLB All-Star Game underperformed in the ratings in the African American and Hispanic demographics. The July 14 game drew an 8.9 rating nationally, but only a 6.3 rating among Hispanics (down 9% from last year) and a 5.8 among African Americans (down 16% from last year). Combined, the African American and Hispanic demographics accounted for approximately 15% of total viewership for the All-Star Game, down from 17% last year.
- Sunday’s IRL Rexall Edmonton Indy drew 402,000 viewers on Versus. To put that in perspective, the Tour de France averaged 530,000 viewers on Versus, and the NHL regular season and playoffs averaged 330,000 and 879,000 viewers, respectively, on the network.
