ESPN has dropped the “hammer” down on the use of Twitter by its employees.
According to ESPN NBA reporter Ric Bucher, ESPN has distributed a memo “prohibiting tweeting info unless it serves ESPN.” Bucher: “My guess is I can still tweet about my vacation/car shopping, etc. Which I will do, if I can. But the informal NBA talk is [probably] in jeopardy.”
Several ESPN writers are on Twitter, including Bill Simmons and Jemele Hill.
This comes a day after ESPN NFL analyst Mark Schlereth got into a long and heated argument with Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco on Twitter. Whether or not the Schlereth incident had anything to do with ESPN’s new policy is unknown.
