- Lou Holtz: Could a political career be in the ESPN college analyst’s future? The Orlando Sentinel reports that Holtz recently told top Republicans that he is “interested in challenging” incumbent Florida Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas for a seat in the House of Representatives. An ESPN spokesman told the Sentinel that Holtz “told us … that he is committed to ESPN.” (via The Big Lead)
- Lee Corso: The ESPN college football analyst is recovering from a stroke he suffered earlier this year. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the 73-year-old Corso “remains in occupational and speech therapy,” and is “learning to write all over again, just like he’s learned to talk all over again.” Corso plans to return to ESPN for the season debut of College Gameday on September 5. - Joe Posnanski: The Kansas City Star columnist is leaving the paper “for a full-time gig” at Sports Illustrated. Posnanski, who began writing columns for SI.com in ’08, was “offered a senior writer?s position at Sports Illustrated” on Monday. He says he will remain in Kansas City and occasionally “still write for the [Star].”
