Ratings and viewership hit a four-year low for the Alamo Bowl.
The UCLA/Kansas State Alamo Bowl drew a 3.4 final rating and 5.6 million viewers on ESPN last Friday, down 24% in ratings and 26% in viewership from Oregon/Texas last year (4.5, 7.5M) and down 17% in both measures from Texas/Oregon State in the 2012-13 season (4.1, 6.8M).
The Bruins’ win ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched Alamo Bowl since Oklahoma State/Arizona in the 2010-11 season (2.8, 4.6M). This year was just the second of the past eight in which the Alamo Bowl failed to earn at least six million viewers.
Overall, the Alamo Bowl earned the fifth-largest audience of any non-New Year’s Six bowl game. Only the Holiday (6.8M), Outback (6.4), Belk (6.4M) and Texas (5.8M) bowls generated larger audiences.
