- ESPN will use Thursday’s season-debut of Monday Night Football to promote the new Madden NFL 10 video game. During the game — a Super Bowl rematch between the Steelers and Cardinals — ESPN will feature “[s]pecial ‘Madden’ footage, advertising spots and other content.” Additionally, “‘Madden NFL 10’ custom billboards also will be featured across ESPN programming throughout the day.”
- Versus is set to debut a weekly sports business show later this month. The $ports Take, hosted by Rick Horrow, will air on Tuesday nights starting August 25. The first episode will include an interview with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, with future episodes featuring interviews with the commissioners of the four major sports leagues.
- USA Gymnastics and NBC have agreed to extend their broadcast agreement through 2012. NBC will continue to cover USA Gymnastics’ “premiere events,” including the Tyson American Cup and the Visa Championships. Additionally, USA Gymnastics has added NBC corporate sibling Universal Sports as its official cable partner. Universal Sports will air several international events, as well as “expanded coverage of USA Gymnastics events.”
