Though down double-digits from last year, Dayton/Boise State earned the second-best First Four audience ever.
Wednesday’s Dayton/Boise State NCAA Tournament First Four game drew 1.7 million viewers on TruTV, down 25% from Tennessee/Iowa last year (2.2M), but up 35% from La Salle/Boise State in 2013 (1.2M). The Flyers’ win earned the second-largest First Four audience ever (16 telecasts dating back to 2011), trailing only last year’s game.
Including Mississippi/BYU on Tuesday (1.6M), two of the four largest First Four audiences took place this year.
Earlier in the night, Robert Morris/North Florida drew 1.1 million viewers — up 8% from Cal Poly/Texas Southern last year (986K) and up 5% from LIU-Brooklyn/James Madison in 2013 (1.0M). The Colonials’ win was the only game of this year’s First Four to have a year-over-year increase in viewership.
