Boosted by Kentucky’s undefeated run, viewership hit a five-year high for the SEC championship game.
Last Sunday’s Kentucky/Arkansas SEC Tournament championship game drew 3.3 million viewers on ESPN, up 11% from Florida/Kentucky in a later timeslot last year (3.0M), up 101% from Mississippi/Florida on ABC in 2013 (1.7M), and the most-watched edition of the game since Kentucky/Mississippi State in 2010 (4.1M).
The Wildcats’ win, which continued their undefeated run, ranks as the second-most watched SEC championship game since it moved to the ESPN family of networks in 2010 (six telecasts), trailing only the previously mentioned 2010 matchup.
For the season, the game earned the sixth-largest audience on the ESPN networks and the second-largest SEC audience. Kentucky/Louisville drew 3.5 million on ESPN2 in December.
