Ratings and viewership increased by double-digits for the PGA Tour at Tampa Bay last weekend.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Tampa Bay Championship drew a 2.1 final rating and 3.1 million viewers on NBC, up 40% in ratings and 35% in viewership from last year (1.5, 2.3M), up 24% in both measures from 2013 (1.7, 2.5M), and easily the highest rated telecast of the event (dates back to 2003).
The previous high was a 1.9 for final round coverage in 2008.
On Saturday, third round action drew a 1.2 and 1.7 million — up a tick in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (1.1, 1.6M) and flat and up 13%, respectively, from 2013 (1.1, 1.5M). The 1.2 is tied as the highest for third round coverage since 2008.
The tournament ranks as just the third of the season on broadcast to have year-over-year increases in ratings and viewership. The previous two, the Northern Trust Open and Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, aired opposite the Olympics last year.
