Competition from college football has driven the already low ratings for MLB on FOX even lower.
Last Saturday’s regional action, featuring Mets/Phillies, drew a 1.2 final rating on FOX — down 8% from a 1.3 on the comparable date last year, and down 54% from a 2.6 in ’07. This marks the lowest rating of the season for MLB on FOX, falling behind the previous low of 1.3 set just a week earlier.
FOX is averaging a 1.8 rating for regular season MLB coverage through Saturday, down 10% from a 2.0 through the same point last year, and down 22% from a 2.3 in ’07.
FOX is on pace to set a record low for Major League Baseball on broadcast. This would mark the third straight year of record low ratings for MLB on FOX.
