The NFL schedule will soon be released. In other news, NBC will air regional coverage of the NHL playoffs on Saturday, and ESPNEWS could air an NBA playoff game this year.
NFL: Schedule Release (likely April 23)
- The NFL is expected to release its 2014-15 regular season schedule next week, NBC Sports reported Monday, with April 23 the most likely date. Three games have already been announced — Jets/Dolphins in Week 4 (October 4), Bills/Jaguars in Week 7 (October 25) and Lions/Chiefs in Week 8 (November 1), all from London. The Patriots will host the NFL Kickoff Game, as is tradition for the defending champion, against a still-undetermined opponent on September 10. (via NBC Sports)
NHL: Regional Stanley Cup Playoffs Coverage (3 PM Saturday, NBC)
- For the first time in several years, NBC Sports will present regional coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. On Saturday, Game 2 of the Red Wings/Lightning and Wild/Blues series will air on NBC at 3 PM ET. The telecast will be a ‘reverse mirror’ à la college football on ABC, in which the game that is not selected to air on NBC will be available on NBCSN. (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
NBA: First Round, Game 6 (May 1, ESPNEWS)
- Due to the NFL Draft, it is possible that up to two NBA playoff games will air on ESPNEWS this year. If there are at least three first round Game 6s on Friday, May 1, two of the games would air on ESPN and the remaining game(s) would air on ESPNEWS. ESPN2 is booked with NFL Draft coverage. ESPNEWS has never aired a complete NBA regular or postseason game.
