Ratings were up early and down late for college football on ABC Saturday.
Saturday Night Football, featuring Texas Tech/Texas, drew a 4.3 overnight rating on ABC — down 49% from an 8.4 overnight for last year’s comparable USC/Ohio State game, and down 48% from an 8.2 for Texas/Texas Tech late last season.
Despite the decline, the 4.3 ranks as the highest overnight of the young season for Saturday Night Football — topping a 4.2 for Alabama/Virginia Tech earlier in the month.
Earlier in the day, regional coverage featuring USC/Washington and Nebraska/Virginia Tech drew a 3.3 overnight, up 38% from a 2.4 for comparable regional coverage last year.
Overall, ABC averaged a 3.8 overnight for college football coverage on Saturday, down 30% from a 5.4 last year.
