The Spurs/Clippers series has yet to move the needle for TNT.
Game 2 of the Spurs/Clippers NBA playoff series drew 3.8 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, down 5% from Blazers/Rockets last year (4.1M) and down 11% from Lakers/Spurs in 2013 (4.3M).
Both games of the series, thus far the closest and most discussed of the first round, have declined from last year and 2013.
Earlier in the night, Blazers/Grizzlies Game 2 drew 2.5 million — down 13% from Bobcats/Heat last year (2.9M) and down 17% from Rockets/Thunder in 2013 (3.1M). The Grizzlies’ win ranks as the least-watched game of the playoffs on TNT thus far (9 telecasts).
NBA TV earned just 380,000 for Game 2 of Nets/Hawks, down 32% from Mavericks/Spurs last year (557K) but up 95% from Hawks/Pacers in 2013 (195K).
Of the 13 playoff games on cable that can be compared to last year, 11 have had declines in viewership. Only Pelicans/Warriors Game 2 (+30%) and Celtics/Cavaliers Game 2 (+24%) have had increases.
