Not surprisingly, Game 3 of Blackhawks/Ducks could not match last year’s action on the NBC broadcast network.
Game 3 of the Blackhawks/Ducks NHL Western Conference final drew 1.8 million viewers on NBCSN Thursday night, down 24% from Blackhawks/Kings on NBC last year (2.4M) but up 2% from Blackhawks/Kings on NBCSN in 2013 (1.8M). Last year’s game not only aired on NBC, but had primetime exposure as well.
The Ducks’ win was just the second game of the conference finals to have a year-over-year decline in viewership (six telecasts). Game 1 of the series on NBC was down by 5%. The other four games have each increased by double-digits.
So far, conference final games have averaged 1.8 million viewers across NBC and NBCSN — up 6% from the comparable point last year.
