A series of deals with cable and satellite providers has pushed NBA TV’s distribution to nearly 50 million homes.
Sports Business Daily reports that NBA TV is set to “increase its distribution to more than 45 million homes,” after reaching agreements with Cablevision, Time Warner Cable and Dish Network. The 45 million homes is “more than triple the distribution” the network had during the 2008-09 season.
NBA TV appears to be surpassing expectations; just last April, NBA Commissioner David Stern said he hoped the network would be in approximately 40 million homes by the 2010-11 season.
Entering its second season under the Turner Sports umbrella, NBA TV is now barely behind NFL Network (available in 50 million homes) and MLB Network (available in 53 million homes).
