For the second time this season, FOX earned one of the lowest overnights ever for primetime baseball on broadcast TV.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.3 overnight rating Saturday night, down 19% from the network’s fifth primetime telecast last year (1.6) and down 46% from the fifth such telecast in 2013 (2.4).
The 1.3 is tied as the second-lowest for primetime MLB on over-the-air television, tying a telecast last month and ahead of only last year’s season opener (1.2). Keep in mind one of the three games on FOX Saturday night — Indians/Orioles — was postponed due to rain.
Unlike the previous four MLB telecasts on FOX this season, which each aired opposite the NHL playoffs on NBC, Saturday’s telecast did not face much competition. It topped the England/Canada FIFA Women’s World Cup match on Fox Sports 1 by 30% (1.0).
