- ESPN begins a weeklong salute to veterans this Wednesday. As part of the effort, ESPN’s College Gameday will appear from the Air Force Academy for this Saturday’s Army/Air Force game, Sunday’s Outside the Lines will air from Walter Reed Medical Center, and the Veterans Day edition of SportsCenter will take place from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Studio shows Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown and NBA Countdown will also air features on athletes who have served in the military. (ESPN)
- FOX will also honor the military this week. This Sunday, FOX NFL Sunday will take place live from an “undisclosed military location” in Afghanistan. The special two-hour telecast will serve as “a tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our country?s servicemen and women.” (TV By the Numbers)
- Could Notre Dame football air on Versus? With Versus’ parent company Comcast on the verge of acquiring a majority stake in NBC Universal, Sports Business Journal reports that NBC’s Notre Dame contract “has a clause that allows a certain number of games to migrate to cable.” If the Comcast/NBC deal is successful, “Versus would be a natural place to house those games.” (Sports Business Journal)
