With Jordan Spieth winning a playoff, ratings and viewership surged for the John Deere Classic.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour John Deere Classic earned a 2.2 final rating and 3.4 million viewers on CBS last Sunday, up 100% in ratings and 120% in viewership from last year (1.1, 1.5M), and tied as the highest for the final round of the event since 1999 (2.5).
The tournament was the sixth of the season to hit at least a nine-year high in final round ratings, joining the Hartford Open (highest since 2005), the Colonial (highest since 2006), the Heritage (highest since 2006), the Houston Open (highest since 2005), and the Tampa Bay Championship (highest since 2003).
Third round action last Saturday drew a 1.2 and 1.7 million, up 33% and 35%, respectively, from last year (0.9, 1.3M).
In other recent PGA action, final round coverage of The Greenbrier Classic drew a 2.0 and 3.0 million on July 5, and third round action the previous day had a 1.3 and 1.8 million.
