A month into the 2009-10 NHL season, the Blackhawks and Flyers are both drawing strong numbers locally.
Regular season Blackhawks games averaged a 1.6 rating on Comcast SportsNet Chicago during the month of October, up 60% from a 1.0 last October, and up 300% from a 0.4 in October ’07.
On October 14, an Oilers/Blackhawks game drew a 2.7 rating locally, the highest rated regular season Blackhawks telecast ever on CSN Chicago.
Meanwhile, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia averaged a 2.5 rating for its first eight Flyers telecasts of the season, up 25% from a 2.0 for the first eight games last year.
Both teams have seen significant increases for postgame coverage — the Blackhawks’ postgame is up 156% from last year, while the Flyers’ postgame is up 75%.
