The second edition of the Premier Boxing Champions series on ESPN was a much stronger draw than the first.
Coverage of the Premier Boxing Champions series earned 1.1 million viewers on ESPN Saturday night, up 34% from the network’s debut telecast in July (799K) and the network’s largest audience for a boxing telecast since May 1998.
The telecast earned the largest audience yet for the PBC on cable (seven telecasts), topping the previous high of 869,000 for coverage on Spike TV in March. Overall, it ranks as the most-watched PBC telecast on any network since NBC drew 2.3 million in mid-June.
Despite the 16-year high, the PBC was outdrawn by Saturday’s UFC 190 prelims on Fox Sports 1 in both viewership (1.3M to 1.1M) and adults 18-49 (0.6 to 0.4).
