NBC scored solid numbers for its second Notre Dame game of the season.
Saturday’s Georgia Tech/Notre Dame college football game drew a 2.4 final rating and 3.7 million viewers on NBC, down 11% in ratings and 20% in viewership from Michigan/Notre Dame in primetime last year (2.7, 4.6M) and down 25% and 23%, respectively, from an afternoon Michigan State/Notre Dame game in 2013 (3.2, 4.8M).
Ratings and viewership were the lowest for Notre Dame’s second home game of the season since 2007 against Michigan State (2.0, 2.8M). Notre Dame typically faced one of its Michigan rivals in its second home game, but both of those series are now on hold.
Despite the low, Notre Dame’s win put up respectable numbers — topping all-but-one of NBC’s seven telecasts last season. The lone exception was the previously mentioned Michigan game. NBC has now averaged 3.9 million viewers for its first two Notre Dame games this season, the network’s highest two-game mark since it averaged 4.5 million in 2012.
Atlanta was Saturday’s top market with a 7.3 rating, followed by Greenville, NC (5.8), Indianapolis (5.5), Las Vegas (4.6) and Ft. Myers, FL (4.2M).
